I am Katie Hanna, a certified Equine and Canine Massage Therapist.
1995 graduate of Morrisville College. I earned my Associates Degree in Equine Science and Equine Business Management. Studies include anatomy, physiology, nutrition, breeding, lameness etc.
I have a life long love and experience with horses, dogs and animals in general!! I have shown horses for 36yrs 4-H, local shows, AQHA, rodeo, etc. through my years, experiencing ALL disciplines! I have a passion for trail riding and western dressage.
If you are a serious competitor and using massage to maximize performance or an animal lover keeping your pet comfortable. I understand BOTH goals!
I come from a long line of animal lovers! As a young child my family trained pleasure and cow horses, bred and raced AQHA horses. My Aunt was the first woman to graduate the Cornell Farrier Course. My father was the president of the Tennessee Reining Horse Association before he passed. I also have two Aunts that were animal humane officers...
I enjoyed showing however I was injured and had to recover, forcing a slow down. I cracked my back and pubic bone. I was bucked off of one of the nicest horses I had ever had. I knew something was wrong with her, she wasn't just "BAD".
She was evaluated by some of the best veterinarians. I certainly got looks as I brought her to the hospitals while I was using a walker, so I could walk around. So much was wrong with her and Lyme was just the beginning. I was so sad I had to take the summer off, little did I know that accident would change my life, horse experiences, and my viewpoint FOREVER!!!
I was advised to euthanize her, as she was becoming VERY dangerous due to increasing pain. She was a well breed 5yr old AQHA mare and my love! I couldn’t, without exhausting every option to get her well. I turned to alternative, herbs, chiropractic, communicators, you name it and continuing with my fabulous Veterinarian. What a journey and learning experience! TODAY SHE IS HEALTHY AS A HORSE!!!
During that time a grade rescue horse found her way into my heart!!! Lady Buggy was the most difficult, ill and ill mannered, lame horse I have ever met, came to live with me so I could re-home her, NOPE!!!! She is my girl! I trained her, it was a long process. When she AND I felt well and I didn’t hurt too bad to ride, we would!!
I have two rescue dogs Stewy and Lucy. Stewy was badly abused and anti social. Today he is a snuggle bug and social butterfly. Lucy was 10-14yrs when I adopted her, she was given 6months to live due to her health. That was 3yrs ago. She gets younger daily. She enjoys her massages VERY MUCH!!!
I’ve shared a bit of my story and animals. I can’t wait for you to share your animals with me!
